Simple Tricks to Make Your Dog Bathing Easy
Senior dogs love rolling around in mud and stepping in puddles just as much as any other pup, so baths are something you’ll still have to do, even when your dog grows old. However, bathing a dog requires patience, care and planning. If you want your dog to have a good bathing experience, here’s a guide how to make bathing your best four legged friend easier.
Firstly, make sure you have all the necessary supplies...
First, you should check if you have all the necessary supplies such as several towels for drying off, a brush, your dog’s shampoo and conditioner and a large cup for pouring water over the dog. It’s important to get your dog an appropriate shampoo because some dogs are more prone to allergies and skin inflammation. Also, dog’s paws and snouts get more sensitive with age, so you can get some special nourishing balms to soothe them.
Ready the water
You can have your dog in the bathroom while you prepare the water. Have them hear the sound of the water and get used to the environment before putting them in the tub. The water should be lukewarm and there should only be about an inch of water in the tub.
Be gentle and patient
Don’t shock your dog by plunging them right into a full tub. It’s better if you ease your dog by gently talking and stroking them while getting them slowly into the water. Some dogs may have problems with stiff joints, so consider lifting them into the tub. You should talk to your furry friend during the whole process of bathing. Hearing your voice will calm them down and make the experience go smoother.
